question about the essays word limits

This is from yale webset:

"My essays are more than 500 words each. Is that OK?
We ask that you respect the word limits we suggest. Will we read the words beyond 500? Yes. But if your essays are much longer than 500 words, understand that you will not help yourself by seeming to have ignored our request. "

is this just for yale supplement essay? Is it OK if my comm essay is more than 500 words?

This pertains to all your submitted essays

^ no it doenst

it only pertains to your yale supplement

becuase common app isnt serving to please only yale's requests

What I mean is even the common app part that would eventually get sent to Yale: they prefer it to be 500. I'm aware that the common app doesn't place a limit on it.

i realize that, but im sure that as long as theessay isnt like a 150 page autobiography, and as long as it conveys your true self withoutbeing owrdy, the adcoms at yale will be more lenient towards the lengt of the common app essay than their supplement
