Under the Parent section of the common app, they ask if your parent has worked in a university, and then offer u the selections of currently employed at, retired from, and never worked at a college university. would retired in this case just meant ceased to work at, rather than like actually “retiring from”? because my parent did previously work at one but doesn’t anymore
also, for the number of institutions my parents went to, do i add on the institution they went to if they only went for a short amt of time (one semester)? They did earn degrees at other institutions, just not at this one.
lol sorry i tend to be technical abt this stuff
Retired means retired from. Pick the first one that is ‘worked at’.
I don’t think it matters if you list every college your parent went to.
first one isn’t “worked at” though, it specifies “currently working at”. but thank you so much for your reply!
“they ask if your parent has worked in a university,”
For this you check Yes and if they don’t have an appropriate choice from the drop downs, leave it blank. If the form is crafted without the correct answer, then leave it blank. If you can’t leave it blank, pick any answer you think is correct.
It is my understanding that the purpose of that question is to see if the student potentially qualifies for one of the tuition exchange programs. DH formerly worked for 2 different universities but hadn’t for a really long time and does t work for one now. We just left it blank.
