Question about the Honors Program

I was accepted to BU with the 20K Presidential Scholarship… very excited of course, but am a bit disappointed to see I was not admitted to the Honors College (yes, I did the extra essay). Not to sound conceited, but it did come as a bit of a surprise given my GPA/standardized scores and the fact I was accepted to the honors program of every other school I applied that had one (including UMiami [Foote Fellow as well], American, Northeastern, Drexel, etc.). BU is on the top of my list, but the lack of Honors is really bothering me… in fact, I’d say if I had Honors it’d be almost a no-brainer. Do I have any shot at appealing the decision? I’m attending the COM school open house this Saturday and would have an opportunity to stop by admissions if necessary. I love BU but I want to ensure I have the top experience available.

Thank you in advance for any insight offered.

Same thing here, I called the admissions office and they said you could e-mail the honors college office and request an appeal

As a follow-up to those in a similar predicament…

I did email the college, received a swift reply from a very kind woman at the admissions office asking me to call her to chat about it - I did so, and we did have a very nice conversation. To appeal all I had to do was send a letter articulating why I felt the Honors College was still right for me to the dean… unfortunately, I wouldn’t receive a final decision until after May 1st.

Well, I attended open house on saturday and had a great experience - and after speaking with the Department Chair of the COM I’m not sure I even want the Honors College necessarily. That said, surprisingly, I received an email earlier today directly from the Dean’s personal email congratulating me and noting that after personally reviewing my credentials he was pleased to offer me admission to the Honors College. Note I did not write a letter.

I haven’t decided whether I’ll accept with the Honors College (I am enrolling in COM for sure, though). So, I guess sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the grease!
