Question about the principal/counselor recommendation letter

I have a question about who to reach out to for the principal/counselor recommendation letter. I could reach out to my principal or class dean, but I’m not familiar with them at all. I have two advisors though, who I meet with regularly during homeroom meetings and check-ins. They’re very familiar with me and my schedule, classes, and interests, so I think it would be best to reach out to them.

However, I’m not sure whether Gateway allows more than one person to write the principal/counselor recommendation letter, and I wouldn’t want to pick one advisor over the other as they are close and equally involved in my school life.

What would you suggest that I do in this situation? I’d really appreciate your thoughts and advice - thank you!

You can certainly submit additional recommendations (I believe even through Gateway). If however you think their letters would be duplicative since they seem to hold the same relative place in your advising situation, maybe ask them to co-sign it? One of them would have to hit Send in Gateway, but they could note within that it’s from both.

Interested to hear what others say about this.

Schools vary on how willing they are to accept extra recommendations.

I would talk to them both and decide who will do it, as a first option. Or, ask each school if you can send an extra recommendation and have one do the official rec and the other do an extra rec. (So would not be two counselor recs, but one counselor rec plus an “extra.”)

Thank you, @DroidsLookingFor and @Calliemomofgirls ! I emailed an admissions officer, and they said if I think the two advisors would give different perspectives on me as a person or student, then I could download the Principal/Counselor rec form from Gateway, and email the PDF to my second advisor to fill out.
