Question about the writing portion

I took the ACT with writing in April this year and I’m taking the ACT without the writing portion tomorrow. My GC told me I would be fine with taking the writing portion only one time, but how does this work with schools that require the writing portion and don’t superscore? Will they only consider the score that I send from the test with the writing portion? Or will they consider the one with the better composite (hopefully the one I’m taking tomorrow) and still take a look at the score from the writing portion that I sent with my April test? And if anyone else can comment on the significance of the writing portion and how the score may affect me for admissions, please feel free to do so.

For schools that require a writing score you have to send both. Villanova is a good example of this.
One of my students sent the composite of 25/ Writing 10 (old writing scoring system) and a composite of 31 with no writing and was admitted. It is more expensive to do it this way $12 for each test, but worth it.
