Ahhh Im so nervous.

Off-topic regarding this thread, but if I improved my GPA by .2-.3 this term, (compared to the last term) would that help if I appealed? or would it still do nothing

To clarify, I’ll give a general timeline of the waves, so there won’t be any confusion.

First Wave (Late January to Early February): Acceptances to Trustee and Presidential scholarship candidates

First Wave and a Half (Early February): Acceptances to students who received the Dean’s Scholarship

About a week after the first wave, a letter will be sent out to those who were not included in the first wave, but applied by the scholarship deadline. This letter states that the applicant was denied scholarship, but is still being considered for regular admission.

[~3.5 +/- 0.5 weeks later]

Second Wave (Mid March): Acceptances to those who were denied scholarship, but applied by the scholarship deadline, and to those who applied by the regular admission deadline.
(Please Note: Not all applicants will be notified by the second wave. USC has a record number of applicants this year. It takes time to go through each and every application thoroughly and carefully.)

Third Wave (Mid to Late March): The rest of the acceptances will be sent out.
(Please Note: If you are not included in the third wave, DO NOT PANIC! You still have a shot at USC, but it will probably be Spring Admit)

Third Wave and a Half (Late March): Acceptances are sent out to those who were accepted to attend USC in the Spring of 2011.

Fourth and Final Wave (Very Late March to Early April): Rejections are sent out. Although the applicant may be rejected, he or she can still appeal the decision.

Hopefully this will clarify some questions about the waves.

aw, apple, you’re one of the few people who actually know what you’re saying on the USC forums :]

Lol, I’ve been through this process before. So I know how you all feel.

Gosh, I have officially lost all hope. I applied for the scholarship deadline, got rejected, have never had even a single status change, and it’s already mid march… there go my dreams of being in my number 1.

@JoisonFire

I did not check the status until last Friday. If I just check today, then I did not know the status has changed from ??? -> Being Reviewed -> Forwarded -> Being Reviewed.
So Don’t give up yet.
And also nobody sure that what those status mean!!

Do they usually send out the waves on Fridays? My status says forwarded to committee for review. Is there a status after that? I am assuming that means that I made it out of the huge group of admissions and my ap has been sent to the school that I applied to. (Marshall)

Do you know the stats of the people who are admitted that have their aps forwarded? I guess I should not go the mailbox until Saturday. I live in San Diego. If I understand you, the next wave will be the rest of the acceptances and the wave at the end of March will be Spring admits?

As of right now, your only way of definitely knowing whether or not you got into USC or not is to wait for your acceptance.

Yes, USC tends to send acceptances out on Fridays.
And werty1992, you understand me quite well.

@Apple

What I don’t get is someone who’s status has changed from Forwarded to Being Reviewed on Mar 14, received a package today. So USC Admin send package even before they update from FWD to Being Reviewed? Any idea? Thanks!

@ Apple: Does that mean we Should be getting the letter on monday?? or would any later qualify for that wave?

Ukukdad: That’s quite understandable. USC might update the system at a later time, after they send out acceptances.

Heytherek: If USC follows the same schedule as last year, they will be sending out a batch of acceptances for regular Fall 2010 this friday, and it will be arriving in LA Country this Saturday, and in NorCal next monday, and to the rest of the country next week. After that, there is one small batch of Spring Admits, and then there are the rejections.

down to the wire…:/

@Apple

Question: So all others who’s status changed “Being Reviewed -> Forwarded -> Being Reviewed” say their backdoor shows working?

I really wouldn’t trust the “backdoor” method to check for acceptance. For it could be a fluke in USC’s system. But if there is a recent status change, then I think you could try the “backdoor” method.

But the absolute way of knowing your acceptance is the acceptance letter.

I hope this answered your question.

u r 100% right on that point.
but as you know I just wonder is there anyone who’s status is not changed but so called “backdoor” worked at least once. =)

Oh, I’m sure there are people like that. Sadly, they haven’t found this site yet.

Does anyone have an idea how many were accepted in the second wave? I’m pretty sure USC told us how many got in the first (scholarship) wave.

I’m just hoping that the third wave this friday and the final wave next friday (spring admit wave) aren’t super small lol.

wow, i had no idea that the final wave next friday was for spring admits. I thought that the fall admits had another chance. uh oh, that means it’s this friday’s wave, or nothing!
I do remember of last year’s threads though, there were some acceptances the first week of april, I guess those are spring admits then.

Oh my, then this friday or spring admit for me… or worse, a rejection !!

actually, thementor5, i just checked and they should be doing fall acceptances too next friday. But if you check the 2009 stats only thread, you’ll see kids getting rejected in that wave too (3/28 aka BEFORE april =/)
