question about THON

We are planning on going to State College on 2/19 and staying overnight for the Admitted Students session on 2/20. 2/19 is THON's last day. Can anyone give us info as to where we should go on 2/19 to experience part of THON and when does it end?

thanks

Thon is held at the BJC and ends with the announcement of the fundraising total around 4pm Sunday. Expect a record-setting amount  in honor of JoePa

We are going to the admitted student session on 2/17. Can anyone go to THON or do you have to be a student? We would love to experience THON also. Do we have have to buy tickets ? Did not see anything regarding admission to the event from the link .

Anyone can come and watch from the upper levels, but only Thon families and Thon dancers/staff can be on the floor itself and some of the lower level. There aren’t tickets you pay for, but sometimes there is a limit to how many visitors are allowed in at a time. Your tour people will know what’s up. There is also a live feed run from the Thon site, so you could see what is going on that way, as well.

We are visiting our daughter this weekend for THON and I am told that you don’t need tickets, however, on Sunday the doors to BJC will be locked at 8:30am until 4pm. If you want to see the last day you will need to get in before 8:30am.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I hope our tour guide will take us to THON!! Really excited to see the campus- it’s our first visit . :)

It’s a beautiful campus – but the weather here is miserable right now  so don’t be thinking it always is wet, cold, and grimy (from snowplow grit). Dress warmly!

Coming up from Florida but we are prepared!!! :). Originally from the northeast (NJ) so we have experience with the winter blues!

doors will be closed all day tomorrow? I guess its not worth it for us to try to get up there before 4pm.

I know that’s the post^^up there, but I’ve never heard of such a thing. I would research Sunday’s hours before giving up on trying to get there…

Our experience on Sunday with Thon is that they will close the doors when the BJC is full. It can happen fairly early in the morning.

We have been here all weekend and have been in and out of Bryce Jordan center at various times. We actually had to wait on line tonight around 9 for 15 minutes to wait for people to leave before we could go in. We were told by many people there, including security, that we should be there between 8 and 9am on Sunday because the doors will close as soon as its filled- and the lines are crazy. It’s been a great experience.
