what does a highschool transcript actually look like? Does it have your final grade only or does it have all the grades of the semester and then a averaged final grade?

I'm not sure, it may vary by school, but I know ours just has our final grades in letter form of each subject of each year.

I took a glance at mine fleetingly but I remember it had all the courses I took in high school and the grades I recevied in each class. Also, it listed classes from 8th grade that counted as high school credit, such as Spanish and Advanced Math. Your cumulative average is at the bottom of the transcript, as well.

If your school ranks, it'll have that. Some schools also include the extracurriculars you were a part of but mine doesn't.

The transcript generally has a list of the classes you took, the grades, their weight (if any), your term and cumulative GPA, rank, what each credit goes to (English, Second Language, etc.), and other things depending on your school.

We get them every year when we forecast, and they're oh-so fun!

do they actually show your grade by "semester" or do they just have the final grade

If the grade affects your GPA, then it will be on your transcript.

So, yeah.

Each transcipt for each school district is different. The GC or Registrar at your high school will give you an unofficial copy of yours anytime you ask for it. It is a good idea to look at it anyway to make sure that there aren't any mistakes.
