Question about transfer application

Hi,

I'm new to the forum but I've been reading every now and then for quite some time now. I'm wondering if anyone could really clarify a question from the Common App for me.

"Have you ever been found responsible for a disciplinary violation at any secondary school or college/university you have attended, whether related to academic misconduct or behavioral misconduct, that resulted in your probation, suspension, removal, dismissal, or expulsion from the institution?"

How seriously do colleges/universities look at an applicant who says yes to this question (if the applicant was under probation from the institution)?

Has anyone here been accepted to a competitive university having said yes to this question as well?

As long as you didn't do it the month before you applied... and have a good explanation of what you learned from it, and how you'll never do it again kind of thing... they don't really hurt your chances. Of course it's on your app, but yes, people are accepted to top universities having said yes. We are all human.

Can anyone share experiences where he or she wanted to transfer to a very competitive university but was in this type of situation?

I think there have been some previous threads on this topic.
