Hi guys---just wondering if u transfer, do the grades transfer over too or do they just award credits? Some schools don't transfer the grades over...how about cornell? thanks!

Cornell doesn't transfer grades, just credits. In fact, I haven't seen any schools that calculate your old GPA into your new one.

Does this also hold true for guaranteed transfers?

That, I do not know, but since the grades were not given at Cornell, I suspect they too are not calculated into your Cornell GPA.

yeah i want to know this too since i'm also a gt...

Ok, from what I have found…it seems that only credits are awarded for regular transfer students…but, there is absolutely nothing about GT’s! hmmm….

for GT's, only credits transfer and not the grades, so you would start your Cornell years with a 0.00

wo wo wo, so my gpa this year doesn't matter at all? (as long as I get nothing below a B and over a 3.3) interesting...I think I'm going to make myself forget that I ever read this...lol

If you plan on going onto graduate or professional school, all grades earned in college matter. Your GPA at a CC or wherever will be combined with that earned from Cornell to give you an overall GPA, so always do your best.

Brand is right, always do your best. I know for medical school you have to send in transcripts from both schools. Although grad schools are a little forgiving on freshman year grades, and at the same time a little forgiving on your first semester grades at the new school because they know you are going through a big transition.

Damn, I wish my school just give me the credit. Here at Uni. of Portland, they calculate old GPA with the new ones
