Question about transfering in

I Just graduated highschool and am accepted into Fordham. HOwever the problem is when the billl came 2 weeks ago, we found out that my parents would probably only be able to fund me for 3 years or less as it will cost me about 15k per semester and no financial aid.

How hard is it for accepted students to not attend and transfer in a year or 2 later? My plan i think now is to attend a city school (as much as it hurts im kind of attached to the school) and then apply for transfer and finish at Fordham...

any thoughts, suggestions, ideas?

I think in any situation where someone gets into a school and transfers later, that person will have a much better chance. When you mail back the little accept/reject offer thing (if you didn't already) write a little letter explaining the situation and that you hope to transfer soon! If you already mailed the thingy in and know that you'll have to contact them to revoke it, try to set up an appointment with an admissions counselor. That way you can explain things and at least get a shot at getting some more financial help. Hope I helped! Good luck.

thanks, the thing is i already told them i am going....should i try to contact the financial aid office to see if they can possibly give me anything?? also...if that does not work...who should i mail a letter to saying it? i mean im afraid it will look terrible that i told the school i was going but ultimately not going to attend. Also my sat scores are on the low end though my gpa is really high..im afraid when they look at those stats again it wont cut it....

I know a couple of situations where people had to leave and then went back. If they saw something in your that made them want you on campus in the first place, they can't penalize you if you're going to have trouble funding it right now. Just keep your GPA high when you go to another school and you should be fine.
You could possibly call the fin aid office and say that you're supposed to start as a freshman this fall but you're not sure if that would work financially and see if you can speak to someone about it.
I'm transferring into Fordham as a sophomore and I still haven't received a fin aid package. Supposedly that takes a little while. Did you not get a package at all or did they not give you enough?
Either way it could help to speak to someone. It's worth a shot if you're attached to the school.

Contact admissions. They might be very willing to defer your admission so that you won't have to reapply next year. From what I heard from ResLife, they are over enrolled and have to triple students in the dorms. They might be happy to have one less!

im just not getting anything, and we cant really afford it for that price..and if we do its probably not 4 years.. If i defer does that mean i cannot go to another school? i called them today and they said there is nothing they can do.

You can always transfer to another school you applied to. I dunno what else you can do now. You might have to wait until spring semester otherwise.

Well im going to attend a City University of New York, and i wont have to pay anything there because there giving me a lot of scholarships so its going to be free plus im getting money back from a private scholarship...so yeah i mean i just feel disadvantaged at a CUNY, because i dont think i will learn as much/ get much opportunities..but also i mean if i can possibly do fordham later i dont even know if they will accept my credits and all that stuff but i know that Fordham is where i want to be and where i belong...so yeah idk what to do except go and hope for the best later.
