ill be honest i didnt do so well in high school. i took plenty of AP classes but i was always indolent. i wanna transfer to michigan, NC-CH, carnegie melon, hopkins and virginia, who all ask for highschool transcript. how much will bad grades in highschool affect my admittion to these schools, if i were to apply for transfer during my junior year in college. i am currently attending Maryland-Collehe Park.

Too vague a question to give you a useful answer, abe. How bad were the hs grades? How are the college grades? What will the college recs be like?

And why do you want to transfer?

i hate it when people are too embarrassed about their past and give you a little info and they still expect you to answer their question....

I have a same problem you know.
I didnt do that well during high school.
Schools I'm planning on transferring is one of UCB, UCLA, and USC.

USC demands my high school transcript, which is horrible.
I'll tell you.

I took plenty of AP courses (8), but managed to BARELY pass 6 of them (with score of 3). Along with that I took plenty of honors course.
My GPA was 3.31 by the end of my senior year.
If you calculate AP into it, it'll probably sum up somewhere near 3.6 area.

I'm currently in comm college.
I've been doing better than my high school.
Been participating in Student Govt, been volunteering in hospital in administration office, and had job as inventory manager.
GPA: 3.71 atm, but planning on raising it to 3.83 by the end of Fall 2006.
I'm transfering as Econ major, and Business as my 2nd choice.

Can anyone tell me how much my high school grades will have impact on my transfer admission to USC?

thnx.

3.3 uw and a 3.6 w? That's horrible? Please, don't let CC skew your perception. You should be able to get into USC with your current gpa and extracurriculars. Also, you've a great shot at UCLA and Cal.

Best, Cardinal

3.6? please......
you really think it's that bad? wow.

lmao yeah you sound like me...actually, exactly the same 3.3 UW 3.6 W (had my dumb school weighted).

Honestly, that GPA is not bad. Your college GPA needs to be as high as possible though for USC, and you need to take the most challenging courses around. I think USC takes over 2,000 transfers per year, so they are VERY nice. But they get around 8,000 applicants (I think, according to collegeboard.com) so put forth your best effort. Check out the USC transfer thread to see what you want your stats to look like.
