I'm currently a UCSD student. I'm enrolled in an online community college class (to get credit for a GE), but I'm thinking about dropping it (with a W). My question is, if I end up dropping it with a W and taking another class at this CC next quarter, and I want to transfer it over to UCSD by ordering a transcript, how would the W affect my UCSD GPA/degree audit when it gets transferred?

I was originally a transfer student. I retook all of my W’s so only the retakes transferred and there’s no W on my ucsd transcript. Any class that you transfer from a community college will not effect your UC GPA. My grades show on my transcript from community college but just act as a “pass/no pass.” But since you will be transferring just a W, it might just say “W.” Maybe it won’t show up at all since you aren’t recieving credit for it. Since no one else responded, I’d recommend sending a quick question over the virtual advising center.

I have a question for both of u guys currently a student at UCSD!
is it possible to repeat a course you took in CC after you transferred to UCSD?! I mean not necessarily for a grade letter?! pass/no pass?
or does the instructors let you to go to his class without being enrolled?!
I took java in CC, and got A…but have heard CS classes in UCSD are pretty good so I want to try it out again when I got there!

I’m actually not sure. I know you can if you credit doesn’t transfer or if it is not the UC equivalent. For example, Psyc 101 in community college does not transfer and you have to take the Psyc 101 at UCSD. You can find that out through the assist.org . Alot of classes are like that. In Large classes you can attend the lectures without being enrolled. Professors don’t know the students. But if there is a Lab like a comp class it’ll be trickier and you might have to just attend the lecture.
