Question about Transferring & Chances ?

So Im going to a university out of state and Im really interested in transferring to UCI / davis / santa cruz.

I completely jacked up my first semester and got a 2.0 (I took 2 classes and got C s in both of them and withdrew from another because the class was so bad), next semester I stepped up a bit but still messed up, rose the gpa to 2.7, and this fall Im confident I can get it up to around a 3.4 and hopefully even higher during winter 2014.

Assuming I do all of this and meet the UC requirements by fall 2014 do I have a chance of getting into UCI / davis / santa cruz ? I noticed the minimum gpa for out-of-state transfer was 2.8 so am I screwed because of my first semester at Uni where I had a 2.0? My major is mathematics if that makes a difference.

I appreciate all answers, thank you

I think your chances have been lowered, but don’t give up this semester and at least apply to UC Santa Cruz, you probably have the best shot at that school out of ones mentioned.

I don’t think you’ll get any higher than a 3.4 GPA but keep trying to raise it up for the UC’s.

Have you considered the CSU’s? They accept a lot of students in the 2.0 range.
