What is the process like, and how difficult is it? What are the requirements generally?

It depends on your class standing, college you’re applying to, major, GPA, etc. In other words, the question is too broad.

I personally transferred from a 4-year, to 2-year, to 4-year. Generally, you would need a really good reason to transfer from a 4-year to a 4-year. This is why I transferred to a community college in between because some universities have better acceptance rates for transfer students.

Usually, admission is very competitive for transfer students who have less than 45 transferable credits. You stand a much better chance if you have an AA degree (or close to 90 transferable credits). It would also help if you know the major you want to apply for and have already fulfilled the prerequisites with a satisfactory grade.

Look at the web site of the college you want to transfer to. Call them if there’s not enough information. They will help you.
