Question about transferring to chem engineering

I am a sophmore transfer going to DGS, hoping to transfer to chem engineering as a junior. My classes this fall are physics e and m, chbe 221, chem 222, gen ed, math 285, eng 101.

Question I have is I have been getting A's and B's in all my classes except I got a D in calc physics, I am currently retaking it over the summer and will get a B or better this time.

I just want to know will getting a D hurt my chances in transferring to chemical engineering or do they only look at how I do my first year at u of i? If I am able to get a good gpa my first year, will the D hurt me at all considering I would have gotten a better grade second time around.

i believe its based on a GPA. when I was deciding on transferring, I needed 3.0 or 3.2…its been a while so I’m fuzzy on the numbers. but i suggest emailing the advisors for chemistry/chemical engineering since they can provide more help.
