Question About Transferring To Georgia Tech

I am trying to make a decision between the Engineering Alliance Program and transferring to Georgia Tech from Clemson. I have visited both now and heres what I have. Unlike my previous thread, the Engineering Alliance Program DOES let you transfer to the Atlanta Campus after 2 years. Anyways I have heard that people who try to transfer in-state are more likely to get in than those from out of state. This is a concern and the reason I am asking this question again. Is this true and what would you do? Thanks in advance for all help.

It’s easier for a Georgia resident to transfer in than a non-Georgia resident (regardless of where that person goes to school). It’s also easier to transfer in from AASU (actually, transferring from AASU to GT is guaranteed if you meet the GPA requirement).

But my advice hasn’t changed from the previous thread. I wouldn’t pay out-of-state tuition to go to AASU for two years. Pay in-state and go to Clemson or USC for a year then transfer to GT.

Just to see if this change your decision: The in-state tuition for Clemson is close to the out of state tuition at Armstrong. Clemson is 12,000 in state. Armstrong is about 13,000 out of state. Of course I do get a $5,000 scholarship at Clemson. Would it be worth spending That money to go to Armstrong for just 1 year because you can try to transfer out after a year. And you said I will have a higher chance of transfer from Armstrong. Thanks again BanjoHitter.

Also may I ask how you know so much? Haha

Hey BanjoHitter heres a tuition chart I found: http://www.armstrong.edu/images/bursar/Gen_Rate_Undergrad.pdf</a>. The total fees for an out of state student ARE LOWER pretty much the same as Clemson’s tuition with the scholarship. $12,346 thats clemson’s in-state -5000 and its $7,346 to go to Clemson. Can you help me out with the chart. Do they charge you based on the number of semester hours you schedule? Thanks a lot for your help.

If Clemson and AASU OOS cost the same, then that changes my opinion. AASU won’t have the social scene as Clemson, but it does offer guaranteed admission and Savannah is a nice place to live.

I would double check with the Admissions office about transferring after the first year. The Engineering Alliance Program requires two years before you go to Atlanta ( [Georgia Institute of Technology :: Undergraduate Admission :: Engineering Alliance Program](<a href=“Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission”>Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission) ). I don’t see any reason why you wouldn’t be able to transfer after one year if you’ve completed the appropriate classes, but you will want to double check that.

I have talked with the admissions when I visited Savannah and they said you can try to transfer to Tech from AASU after one year but your application will be treated regularly like an AASU student if you know what i mean. The tuition chart I looked at was actually per semester that was my mistake but depending on the hours, AASU shouldn’t cost much more than Clemson (on the big picture at least). Can you tell me about the social scene you were talking about? What is it like at AASU. I know Clemson students enjoy a vibrant social life. What about AASU? Thanks
