So, I graduated high school in June. During the summer, I took Speech and Macroeconomics. I got As in both of them.

So far, I am going to take 15 units in the spring, including Astronomy and the lab, Calculus, English, and the category 2 requirement (World Music).

I plan on concentrating on my classes, and taking 14 units in the spring, along with Accounting in the winter, and economics and accounting 102 next summer.

My schedule is backed up because I am going to take Calculus again in the spring, the next course in the sequence, because I wanna give UCLA Econ a shot.

My question is, I am going to have one class left to take in the fall, and its probably going to be the arts and letters requirement: will this affect if they admit me or not? Because a transfer counselor said that they don't start looking at your applications until your fall (or I think spring....) grades are in, so... do I have to kill myself this year? Or can I leave one or two general ed requirements, like possibly the diversity requirement and the Western cultures and traditions requirement, and take them next fall? Will this affect my chances of getting in?

Here's the thing, you're a sophomore applicant, right? It would be to your advantage to finish the pre-requisites for USC first if that's where you are applying as a sophomore. If that doesn't pan out the first time around, then wait an extra year to have enough units to apply to UCLA and try as a junior. UCLA Econ isn't that difficult to get into. Biz Econ is.

Actually, getting into UCLA for economics is still very tough. Many more people apply to biz econ, but the admitted GPA average is still the same for both majors.

I wanna transfer as a junior to USC, and I just wanna make sure that it will be okay if I have 1 or 2 general ed requirements left to take in the fall of 09, before I transfer in fall 2010.

Should be fine as long as you have progressed in Calculus, Econ and business courses (for Marshall). To be the strongest applicant possible though, try and get the Marshall pre-reqs out of the way by the end of Fall '09. You can probably save 1-2 GEs for Spring '10.
