I'm wanting to transfer into the College of Science at Texas A&M for the fall of 2012. However, I don't think this is possible after reading the paragraph in this link.

Under "College Requirements", it says, " Applicants will not be admitted without completing the first two semesters of courses in their declared major with a 3.0 or higher GPR."

This seems a bit ridiculous to me considering that most community college that students want to transfer from do not offer the courses that A&M offers.

So does this basically mean that I can't transfer to A&M because my community college doesn't provide the resources I need?

You need to complete a minimum of 24 hrs with a 3.0. They need to be transferrable hours, so make sure you take the correct courses, check against the website for Texas common course numbers. There are degree tracks that spell out exactly what you will need to be elgible for transfer into the college of your choice. Usually it will be your basic Math, English, Science, Speech. Don’t take courses that will not transfer to A&M.
Keep in mind if you complete your 24+ hours in Spring '12 and want admission for Fall '12, you will not be admitted until A&M receives your Spring '12 transcript. So you will not find out about being accepted until June '12 or even July. It is a long wait. You will apply during the application period, A&M will send you a rejection - with a chance for acceptance upon receipt of your spring transcript. Then you will wait.

I don’t think they contradict each other. Your basic courses are a part of your degree plan in your declared major. What community college does not cover the basic courses which include Calculus I & II, Biology, Physics, & Chemistry?

Maybe I misunderstood it. I thought it was saying that you had to take the exact classes listed for the first two semesters of your major. Below is the classes needed to earn the degree I want to get.

So do I have to take an equivalent of each class in the two semesters of the freshman year? Because I can tell you right now my CC does not offer Math 171 or Math 172.

If I were you, I would go to one of the regional prospective student centers and ask this specific question. They can help you, gives you an additional person to call and shows great interest in A&M. Your visit is recorded and used for admissions

Is it too late to get into A&M now…?
I was supposed to go to Michigan as a freshman, but personal issues came up and I decided A&M would be a better choice…
I’m calling them monday…

For this Fall ? I seriously doubt it, I’m not sure if you can even make it for Spring at this point…GL though. Go to Blinn, then transfer…really pretty simple.

So instead of going to Blinn for a semester, actually saving money and pretty much getting into any program except Business, you’d pay OOS Tuition for 4 years at UMich? Even if you got into Ross, I don’t think that price tag is justified…

Mid August may be too late, but I chose a school other than A&M back in 2006 before changing my mind mid August, and I called them back and got my acceptance reinstated. Its worth a shot.
