I just received a letter from BC regarding the tuition and fees. In the letter, it basically told me the amount of tuition and fees of 2010-11 and the deadlines, but it didn’t mention about my financial aid package. So, how am I supposed to know what is the exact amount of money I am supposed to pay? Are they going to send me another letter? If so, when would it be? (I am kind of concerned about this because my financial aid package is still conditional, so I dont know if they are going to change the package…even though my family didn’t have any major income change.)

Dear prbcguy : All billing is done online via your Agora profile.

You will be required to name a delegate (parent) who will be paying the bill on your behalf or you can pay it directly yourself. Bills for the Fall 2010 semester are likely not yet created although for your planning purposes, all payments for the Fall term are typically due in early August.

Note that you will also be receiving information in the postal mail for a service company that handles monthly billing on behalf of BC as opposed to the twice annual lump sum payments in December (for Spring) and August (for Fall).

When you said “bills for the fall 2010 semester are likely not yet created”, did you also mean that we won’t know the exact money we need to pay at this moment?

Btw, I plan to borrow private student loan for the rest of my tuition, when should I do that by? What are the things that I need to pay attention to?

Thank you for always answering my questions! : )

My financial aid package says conditional too, and the only info missing is the students income tax which my daughter doesnt have any.
Should I be worried about package since I already accepted? The officer told me that that the package was what they offered. I had already provided with all info from 2009.

If all your numbers don’t change, Conditional will morph into Official once final review is completed, likely early June. Thus, your package should not change, (unless the initial reviewer made a mistake).

I was not trying to imply that you had not submitted all documentation. Many folks are not done with their 1040’s, even now, since they might be awaiting partnership documents (K-1s), so all offices of Finaid are always prepared to receive additional documentation. I’m guessing, and its only a guess, that the Office waits until a deposit has been paid and then focuses on those files to finalize them. That way they can reduce their workload by not working on the files of students that choose to go elsewhere.

Thanks for your reply. Im sorry if I sounded a bite defensive. It’s my first time with this process and I fill somewhat overwhelmed. I just want things to go smooth since it will be a big change for my d: and our family.

No problem, h-mom. If you have any finaid concerns, you could always call and ask to speak directly to your finaid rep – the one who actually handles your child’s account and will confirm all documentation and finalize the award. Finaid is part of Student Services.
