1) Is there a place to put a tv? If not, can I bring my own?

2) Would it be feasible to bring in a 32" lcd? (the base isn't too big at all)

Most just put it on the dresser or on the top part of their closet (if you have one like that).

To you plan to drill into the wall to hang it? If so, then each hall has their own policies regarding this. Usually you will be able to drill into the wall, but you have to fill it in later.

Would they let me wall mount it? I'm sure my dad and I could put in. But they don't have a place to put it?

Btw, I believe the closests at Hume are walk-in, so I'm not sure how that would work :

Any ideas? You've been a great help!

At most dorms you can install equipment to mount your TV, but every dorm has a different policy. Some will let you do it and others wont. I suggest you call the Hume Front Desk @ (352)392-6011 and ask for the senior clerk. They will happily tell you the policy for hume. If they let you, just make sure your dad brings a drill or hammer that can get the nails into the cement walls. You will also have to putty the holes when you check out of the room.

Ok, I'll call them. But, I saw some pictures of Hume dorms. And I was just wondering, where could I put it on the wall to where I could watch it comfortably from my bed (so I wouldn't have to sit on the floor or get some bean bag couch or something that takes up room).

Btw, I really appreciate this.

Calculus: Depending on how big your t.v. is. I didn't look at the Hume pictures (if they were any), but I lived in Hume and if you have a decent size (13-17") you should be able to mount it on the bathroom wall (not inside the bathroom of course, but the wall that you and the bathroom share, if that makes sense), if you are on the side of the bathroom as oppose to the sink.

a 32INCH, I dont think is necessary and will probably take up alot of space, general rule stay under 20 inches if your putting it in your dorm.

Actually a lot of TV's in the dorm rooms have about 20 and up. Only a few have 13-17 anymore. Many people are now able to afford larger LCD tv's which take up far less space than CRT tv's.

Also the wall by the bathroom or the one by the window should be able to fit it, but I am not 100% sure.

This isn't all that related to his question, but is it possible to set up in dorms one of those things where your computer works as a tv, and you just plug the cable into it?

I really don't know anything about computers, I just like the idea of this and not having to bring a TV.

That depends on whether or not your computer is capable of doing that and whether or not you have the right cables/adapters. The other thing to think about if you do that is that your roommate may not have a computer that can do that and so you may not always be able to watch TV. If you have homework to do on the computer its hard for your friend to watch TV. If both of you have the capability, though, it's definitely worth talking to your roommate about as a possibility.

Your roommate has their own cable outlet and ethernet connection, so that wont be an issue. As shanksta stated above, you computer would need to be able to do it. A computer such as this one with a TV tuner: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8295506&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat103700050054&id=1173577987191

So there are 2 connections for both ethernet and cable in each room? That is definitely good to know...

My son had a 20" TV in Hume this year and an Xbox 360 console. The TV sat on top of his portable refrigerator and the Xbox sat on the floor. The walls in Hume are concrete block so I don't think wall mounting is an option.

Don't worry about space. I was in a triple in North Hall last semester. My roommates and I had two 27" tube tvs, a 20" flat panel tv and a 17" flat panel. Not to mention 3 fridges, surround sound, every game system, a couch, etc. Yes we violated fire safety, kicked the breaker a few times, and people said our room felt cluttered, but we had plenty of space and our room wasn't very big at all.

I don't think they let you drill the walls.

You can drill into the concrete block walls. You just need to have a drill that can do it. Every dorm has a different rule but most if not all allow it. You just have to putty the hole when you leave at the end of the year. You can paint if you want too. YOu just have to paint it back at the end/.
