Question about UC Application

I have a stupid question about the UC Online Application.

There's this section which asks personal information such as country of citizenship and country of residence. Next is a rather confusing question: "Citizenship Status (Non-US Citizens)".

" Indicate your status as of the date you submit this application. If you are a nonimmigrant, respond to the appropriate visa item(s) by indicating your information visa type. " TIP: Check "Immigrant/Permanent Resident" only if you have already obtained permanent resident status in the US.

The options are: "Immigrant/Permanent U.S. Resident", "Refugee" and "Nonimmigrant".

I am a Taiwanese citizen residing in Spain. I'd select Nonimmigrant... But then what kind of visa am I supposed to select? " Visa for which you have applied or plan to apply" Would it be F1? "Other"?

Thanks for your help ;)

OK another question: Obviously CA residents are given lots of preference, "* 91% In-state students", does an International student have any chance? Of course it depends on the student, but the way I look at it of the remaining 9%, 90% probably goes to the rest of US residents.

lol, it looks kinda grim now. :P

Bump. Someone please?

You would probably be an F1

international apps? ....depends on the campus. For example, Berkeley accepted 12% of its international applicants last year (227/1843).

btw: the UC's accept such a high proportion of Calif residents because the Uni system is public, i.e., supported by Calif tax-payers.
