According to this, my GPA for UCs is only 10th and 11th grade, however, the second bit about honors courses says last three years of high school. I’m confused as to what that’s saying. Does that mean, say, I have a straight 4.0 GPA weighted for 10th and 11th grade, and then I take two AP classes in Senior year at which I get A’s in, that an extra point is added in for each of those AP classes into my 10th and 11th GPA? Or are they just completely unrelated?

On another note, what is the average GPA for students at Berkeley or UCLA? I’m keen to get into either of those, but I’ve got a B in Spanish 2 due to a terrible Spanish 1 teacher, and I’ll be at a 4.0 instead of a 4.2 this semester.

The average for UCLA is around 4.09-4.42. I don’t know about Berkeley though. You can check up UCLA’s incoming freshman SAT/ACT and other scored on their website, clicking on UCLA Profile.

O and also! It says “The University assigns extra points for up to eight semesters of University-certified honors-level and Advanced Placement courses” so I suspect even though it says “for the last three years”, the most points you can get is for 8 semesters.
I would email UCLA, USB admissions or ask my counselor.

The “UC gpa” is used for admissions eligibility only. So no senior course counts, unless you take it in summer after your Junior year. Only AP/IB courses and UC-approved honor courses earn the extra bonus point; again, for Soph & Jr courses only. And there is an 8 point cap on bonus points for admissions eligibility.
