Sorry if this is in the wrong section; I’m new to this site.

I’m currently a high school junior and just found out about the ‘a-g’ requirements for the UC schools, specifically the VPA one.

That puts me in a dilemma, considering I DROPPED out of my art classes to take classes more beneficial (like AP classes and computer classes).

But then I had the idea to take elementary piano at my local community college. I play piano and could make it there for classes next semester.

It would cover the requirement right? Would I need two semesters of it since the UC schools require a year-long course? Or because it’s a “college class”, would one semester be equivalent to a year?

^^Incorrect. A one-semester college course such as Art History (similar to AP Art History) could fulfill the VAPA requirement. As long as it is transferable (IGETC), it will fulfill the VAPA requirement.
