Hi, I am currently attending UCR. But I want to go to a different UC (UCSD or UCI). If I go back to CC this following year which is summer 2010. Am I still considered as CCC applicant or applicant from interstate campus transfer? And also, Am I eligible for TAG? I called UCI few days earlier and they said no but, UCSD told me that I can do tag... It's very confusing...

I’ve been in the same predicament as you.

The schools don’t seem to consistently deem (on paper) what a ‘California Community College’ student is.

From what I gather, former UC students can enroll at a CC and technically become a CCC student if they meet certain requirements. For example, UCSD deems a CC student as:

Be enrolled at 1 or more CCCs for at least 2 terms, excluding summer sessions

Attend a CCC as the last college before being admitted to UCSD

Complete at least 30 semester UC-transferable units (45 quarter units)

If I recall UCI explicitly excludes former UC students from that definition, yet becoming a CCC student makes no mention of any former institution. I have a feeling they mean people coming directly from a UC without having attended the CC.

TAG restrictions and requirements are totally different from the CCC student definition and may be more strict, like excluding former UC students.

you can do tag with UCSD. I went to UCSB for a year and then went to CCC for another year and got into UCLA , Berkeley, UCSD, and USC with no problem. All your units from UCR will be transferable. I was also able to do tag with UCSD but i think you should be fine for TAG with UCI. According to their website:

"A student who is TAG eligible:
- has completed the first transferable English composition course;
- has completed the first transferable math course;
- does not have a degree from a four-year college/university;
- does not have any foreign/international coursework;
- does not have any coursework from a four-year college/university (exception: coursework completed at
a UC and the applicant left the UC in good standing);"
