My girlfriend found out yesterday that she was put on the wait list for UCSB. Since this was her first choice, she is obviously disappointed. I wanted to know how likely it is to be taken off the wait list. Her stats seem pretty solid (4.1 gpa, 1470/1600 SAT) and she applied as an econ major, but does that even matter? Do they take random people off the wait list or do they really look into their stats and how qualified they are? Would sending a letter of appeal increase her chances of being accepted? Also, I wanted to know the percentage of students who were taken off the weight list last year. I am aware of the numbers from a couple years ago, but I saw somewhere that the percentage of students taken off the weight list last year was significantly higher. Unfortunately, I have not been able to confirm this. Any help/advice? Thanks!
Anyone please
2014:
142 admits
2015:
waitlisted:5,006
opting in: 2,910
admitted: 278
2016-17 waitlist stats from UC counselor conference
5373 waitlist
3120 opt in
1218 waitlist admits
Better odds for 2016, but they the UC’s also had budget issues and were conservative in the number of applicants they were admitting. There is no real way to know your chances, so I suggest she opt in and hope for the best but move on. She needs to SIR to another school by May 1 since she will probably not hear until after May 1.
my child just got off the waitlist at ucsb her portal says accpeted but i don’t see a link to sir online. did anyone have this issue
Doe sit say her Admission status is accepted or her waitlist status is accepted?
