<p>24 weeks for the academic year is a little bit low. Oxford+cam have the shortest terms at 8 weeks each, although given that the term actually extends and starts before the exact dates of the lectures, 9 week terms is a bit more acurate, so 27 weeks would be about right. I think the other universities often give 3 weeks xmas, 2-3 weeks easter and maybe 16 weeks summer. I think in all UK terms are shorter, although we don't have thanksgiving.
