Question about University of Maryland College Park admissions

I've determined that I am applying for the regular decision deadline but I'm not sure when I should apply within that time frame. From what I understand one can apply anywhere from nov 2-jan 20 and it looks better when one applies earlier. However, I want to apply so my first semester senior year grades will be considered and so my november SAT scores are considered. When is the optimal time to apply so UMCP doesn't think I am a slacker but so they can see my grades? Is there I should indicate that I'm applying late so they can see my upward trend in grades? Or do you think that I should apply before the priority deadline and not even bother showing them my senior year grades(straight A's) and my november SATs?

My gpa is 3.5 UW and 1210 for CR + math

From what I understand it is a very competitive school & you have a better chance the earlier you apply particularly if you are an OOS. Your transcript & Nov SAT will catch up with your app.

Do you know how much of a better chance I have of getting in if I apply by the priority deadline? I emailed the director of admissions and she said that my november SAT might not get to them before they start reviewing applications so that means my senior year semester grades definitely won’t be included. Maybe I should just apply at the end of November so I know they have my SAT scores and atleast my first quarter senior year grades?

Also, I’m in state.

Anyone else?

The bulk of their admits go out for ED, so if you wait for RD you will be fighting for a small number available, thus the competition is higher. Most that do RD consider UMD a safety. With your stats I would not consider UMD a safety. Towson yes, UMD no.

According to one of the admissions representatives, 95% of the admitted pool is priority applicants.

Definitely go for the ED. They’ll get your November scores when they come out. Your stats look fine to me anyway.

ETA: And they’ll ask for your 1st semester grades if they want them.
