question about US history and institution requirements!!

Hi everyone. I am a mechanical engineering major who will be attending Berkeley as a junior transfer admit this fall. I'm currently planning my courses for the fall 2012 semester and I just came across something that will really complicate my scheduling plans if it doesn't go the way I think it does. If I took a year of US history and half a year of US Government in high school with good grades in them, will those satisfy the US history and US Institutions requirements at Berkeley? I didn't take any AP classes or exams, so that's why I'm wondering. Please let me know because this will really affect my schedule!

Also, I would like to know by today because I’m leaving for CALSO tomorrow.

Is there anyone willing to reply? I’ve had almost 200 views…

If you just took regular courses in high school and did not take APs, you’ll have to take the requirements at berkeley.

Are you sure about that? This was quoted on Berkeley’s webpage for the office of the registrar:

“Nearly all incoming freshman have already satisfied their AH&I requirements with course work completed in high school or at another college. If you completed one year of U.S. history OR one-half year of U.S. history and one-half year of U.S. government in high school with letter grades of C or better, you have satisfied both the American History and American Institutions requirements. If you passed the high school Advanced Placement American History exam with a score of 3 or better, the SAT Subject Test (formerly named the Achievement Test) in U.S. History with a score of 550 or better, or the International Baccalaureate Higher Level (IBHL) History of the Americas exam with a score of 5, 6, or 7, you have satisfied both the American History and American Institutions requirements. Only the American Institutions requirement may be satisfied by passing the AP U.S. Government exam with a score of 3 or better.”

Doesn’t the second sentence verify my thoughts?

Here are ways to satisfy the requirement:
