Question about UVA application rules

I was reading a section on the UVA website which says that "Supplemental documents (recommendations, international student forms, etc.) that cannot be submitted online should be faxed to -------. Submitting documents by mail is not recommended." U.Va. Office of Admission > Admission Information > Applying to U.Va.

There's the link. It's the first orange line. I'm a bit confused as to how a teacher recommendation could be submitted online using the Common App. If anyone knows anything about that, please let me know. The link also says that the documents should be FAXED. I don't think my professor has a fax machine, and I suppose sending the rec by mail is out of the question. Any suggestions?

Hi, Behnam91, if you go to the University of Virginia forum (go to "Colleges", then to "University of Virginia" under "CC Top Universities"), there is a thread on this exact question. The fabulous Dean J even weighs in. It is probably better for you to read it than for me to try to summarize.
