Question about WashU

For those of you who go to WashU, what are the different opportunities to becoming a leader? Is it difficult to become a leader (as in with a name, such as "Secretary," not just a leader in the classroom)?

As in elected or appointed?
Join some clubs. Exec boards are really easy to run for (for the most part).
I’m a sports club treasurer, and could most likely win if I was to run for exec in my main group. As for SU? Lots of the positions typically run unopposed because most students a- don’t care enough to run or b- don’t have nearly enough time for the position.

It really depends what you want to get involved with. But labels on your leadership position aren’t nearly as important in college as they are in high school, and its very easy to get heavily involved in all sorts of clubs and activities.

You can be anything from the Editor in chief of the newspaper, to the president or treasurer of a club to the membership vp of a fraternity or the secretary of Student Union. Get involved early and find out what your favorite clubs are. Then you’ll be set to rise as a leader. It’s not uncommon to find sophomores as club presidents.
