So I applied ED to Huntsman and was deferred. When I called the admissions office to ask which program I was deferred at (meaning did I get deferred at huntsman or wharton) they said Huntsman. Does this mean that the regular Wharton committee didn't even see my ED application? Will they know that I am a deferred applicant when seeing it? Do you think since I was deferred at Huntsman that means that I have a decent shot at Wharton? I just wanna know so I can brace myself for Thursday.. Thanks

any opinions are greatly appreciated.

ok u have a decent shot at wharton if yu were deferred at huntsman. also, if u are deferred at huntsman ED then wharton does DEFINITELY see ur app but then they decide which is better for you and them- wharton ED or huntsman RD and stuff. This is what i think.

correct me if i am wrong guys

I believe if you apply ED to the Huntsman program, they will not accept you ED at Wharton as an alternative, since ED is binding, and you may not have committed to attend Wharton if accepted there (but not Huntsman) ED. At the RD stage, if Wharton wants you, but you aren’t accepted into the Huntsman program, Wharton will accept you. But of course you aren’t bound to enroll if accepted this time around.

but JHS there is an option on the form asking if your ready to commit to wharton ED! if hopeful2b signed that as a ‘yes wharton is good too’ then im sure they will accept u ed at times. in fact it happened to one of my frnds this year itself!!

oops forgot to add: LAWYERED :P

(marshall in himym style)

As the Huntsman program is so competitive they give you a choice when you apply Early Decision that, if denied, you can still be considered ED or RD for one of the colleges involved in the program (CAS or Wharton). So, if you were denied from Huntsman ED you could be accepted ED for Wharton, but you would have to put that as your second choice on your application.

I think if you put Wharton ED as your second choice and were deferred from Huntsman they would have given you a decision from Wharton on December 11. Did you just put Wharton RD as your second choice, though?

Here is what the admissions section of the Huntsman program website says about how they will treat your application:
So whatever Huntsman decides doesn’t affect your application to Wharton.

Also has me a little confused on these programs…

I applied to LSM (Wharton secondary) and was deferred.

But I know an applicant who was rejected by Huntsman but accepted at Wharton during the ED period. It is still binding.

Well what I really mean to ask is “Do you think me being deferred at Huntsman mean that I have a good/average/not-very-good/doesn’t-matter chance at Wharton?”

I just logged back in to my old decisions page and found the following message:
“Admissions Selection Committee has decided to defer its final decision…”

Is this the same for all applicants? You said you were deferred from Huntsman, but does it say Huntsman deferred you, or the general committee?

hopeful2b- u will have the same chances as you would have had if you would not have applied huntsman and wharton only!
