Question about withdrawals

Hello everyone,

I have taken classes in 3 college systems and am about to finish up in University #3. I didn’t take my SAT scores so I started by taking classes at community college and a hometown university for 2 years. During that time, I got okay grades in the community college (like a 3.4?) and mild grades at the University (3.1). I also got two Ws in over the course of my second year. Lastly, there were two relevent classes in my jaor that I got bad grades in, which I retook and got much better grades (I turned two Ds into Bs). The environment was very toxic and I was dealing with some serious mental health issues as documented as well as getting back used to going to school as I started university after getting out of the Army.

After my second year, I transferred to University #3 which is where I am currently finishing up my senior year. I am looking for grad school and am currently sitting on a 3.5 GPA. I am aware that grad schools look at ALL transcripts and I am concerned about my past. I am involved with a large number of extracurricular and relevant work experience (as well as I have had work published in a journal). I am curious if my previous experiences will ruin me?

One or two Ws aren’t uncommon at all. One or two bad grades that are replaced with good ones are pretty common too. And, as you know, what is done is done. So just put those old bad grades out of your mind and concentrate on your present GPA and what you can do to keep and/or improve it.

Work with your advisors to devise an appropriate grad school list, and to put together your applications. Your faculty know the process very well and should have good ideas for you.

Wishing you all the best!
