question about work experience

I thought I'd ask this in the parents' forum to get more of an adult response.

Colleges, future employers, etc ask for previous work experience. 2 years ago I worked <2 weeks at a Quiznos before quitting due to an uncomfortable work environment and personal stresses (I shouldn't have taken the job to begin with, really).

Is not including this limited experience on X form illegal/bad? I don't want to get into trouble but it hardly counted as work, more of a blip. How should I handle this?

Well, if it's illegal or unethical, then this parent is guilty as well. Many years ago, I was fired after working for two weeks at another large fast-food provider. I never listed that particular employer on any job application. Luckily, that was not my first (nor my last) job, so prospective employers had other evidence that I was responsible and trustworthy enough to hold a job. If this was your first job, it might be a good idea to think through what, exactly, went wrong.

The only caveat would be if you are applying for work which requires a background check or security clearance, and which specifically calls for you to list any and all employers.

No, it is not illegal or unethical to omit that. Not in any way shape or form. Listing work experience is not like listing schools attended, where you are supposed to be complete.

Not a problem at all to omit this, as others have said.

I worked lots of seasonal jobs (Christmas, spring break, summers) that were temporary, just-for-quick-cash, filling in for people, situations. I had other jobs too. I did not list the little jobs, like the time I worked for a summer camp for two weeks as lifeguard, for someone who needed some help. Two weeks is really... not worth mentioning.

Thanks for the input!
