question and chance

Ok, lets say there are 5 qualified applicants for Cornell from one school. Would Cornell take all 5 or is there some sort of cap limit that cornell can take from each school? just a thought. And is it true that ppl rarely get into their 2nd choice college and that it also decreases your chances of getting into cornell overall?

Chance me plez :]

to be honest: the sat writing shouldve been a 700 atleast...but i had no time to retake it :(

2 answer your 1st question.
They don't cap or have some kind of quota. Each person will probably be reviewed by different people before getting to the head person. They won't deny you because you came from the same school as someone else.
Secondly, it's true that people rarely get into their 2nd school, I think only like 4-20 people got in that way, last year. I saw the number somewhere. But it doesn't help or hurt your chances.
If being Asian is going to be your Anti-Hook, I'd wouldn't mention it on the APP.

it wouldnt have mattered, becuz in my recommendations, my heritage was mentioned (in a good way) and i have an alumni interview lol sooo...there gonna know either way.

yeah i hope that the 'cap effect'-i just made that up, isnt major
im in a similar situation, i come from a really good hs and so many students apply, i think there are probably about 10 this year, one got accepted ED and there are like 1 or two more probably more qualified than I and several others..
but last year a lot got accepted from my school- for some reason the number 7 is sticking out in my mind, but regardless I'm afraid this is a possible factor..
any more thoughts/rumors/sqaushed rumors?

your stats are good but arent the most competitive, espcially considering engineering is actually the most numbers based admissions college at cornell. youre ecs are excellent so thats probably what will get u in. I'd say a reach but good luck.

There isn't supposed to be a "cap." Cornell will not hesitate to accept many students from one school if they are qualified; some high schools send more than fifty every year.

Your numbers don't quite stack up for the college of engineering, even though that isn't to say that you don't have a chance at getting in. Aside from the numbers, though, what catches my attention most is that your extracurricular involvement, though significant, isn't as aligned with engineering as could be. You have some experience with math club and honor society, but nothing (as far as I can see) that would show me a passion in engineering. I think that it mostly comes down to how convincingly you presented yourself in your essay as a budding engineer.

I couldn't tell you about the effects of applying to a second college, as I applied before that was implemented.

As a side note, based on your volunteer work I think that many schools should be happy to have a student of your character. Good luck!
