Question bout 9th GRADE

I dont know why UC would request to see 9th grade grades in their application.
I thought they totally disregard 9th grade?

Do they consider it but just not incorporate it in their GPA calculation? Which would mean that 9th grades does have some bearing on one's application, right?

If I got straight A's in 10 and 11 grade, in all AP/honors, but got straight C's in 9th grade, my UC GPA would be a 4.4, but would they consider me a straight A student? Would the C's in 9th grade matter at all?

It seems a little idiotic that they would request 9th grade grades after explicitly stating in some of their admission literature that they do not consider 9th grade at all in the admission process..

They take a holistic approach in admissions. It's just another data point that they can use to make a determination...even if they don't weight it at all.

they want to see a general rise in grades if not a consistenly high ones, but anyway c in 9th not so big of a deal. and if that hypotetical case is real then your more than fine.

They do look at 9th grade, often to see a trend / where you started out, but they do not use it when calculating your GPA.

i think if u had crappy grades 9th grade, then turned them around, it definitely says something good about you, that you figured urself out and and got better, might even be a plus.
