Question 'bout the ACT

Okay, so here's the issue:
so I heard that for the ACT, the colleges dont see how many times you take the test.
however, when you sign up to take the test online, it gives you the option to send your score report to colleges. and i did that to my top choice.
and so ive taken the test 3 times so far, and have signed up to take it one more time.
will the admission officers still see that? and will that hurt my chances of getting into the college?

Please clarify: Have you sent any score reports thus far? I would not send the next score report until you see it first. If you have signed up for this already, I believe you can "undo" this. Call ACT and ask them, they are generally very helpful.

well the issue is that i didnt tell my guidance counselor to send in any report or anything (they send out a big package with my teacher recs, transcript, and ACt scores, so they definitely havent sent it it)
but the issue is that i think ACT automatically sent in the scores.

ACT does automatically generate a score report to the colleges if you listed schools to send the report to when you signed up for the test. Have your 3 comps been OK? When did you take those tests? What about SATs and SAT IIs?

well i took it three times, and i got, consecutively, a 32, 33, and 34, but i REALLY wanted a 35 so that's why im taking it again.
i didnt put down any schools for the SAT IIs (i didnt take the SAT)
but im just debating whether my scores that were sent to the colleges that i put down will be associated with my actual application

Erm, I think with a 34 ACT, you really don't need to waste your time taking it again.

If you put down your top-rated school when you signed up for each test, they received all 3 score reports.

Any time you pick colleges to send scores to, colleges will see your score report for that test.

I'd say you're done with the ACT... it looks compulsive... unless you've taken it once a year since, say, 9th grade. All REALLY good scores, no need to worry that it will have a negative impact, and you've had an upward trend. Are your SAT II scores good? Are you a rising sr?

Let me straighten out some misconceptions here. First off, when you send ACT scores, the schools will only see the scores that you want them to see. If you sign up for the freebies, the schools will only see the score for THAT DAY. The won't see any previous test scores unless you have sent the schools those scores as well. If you take the test again only the schools that you request to see your scores from that day will see them.

Your high school MIGHT include all ACT and SAT scores on your permanent transcript. If your high school does this, you need to see if you can arrange with your school counselor to not include them, but some high schools are really obstinate about this one.

Finally, for the OP, your score of 34 is already in the 99th %ile of all test takers. It will not improve your chances as any school in the US if you do manage to get a 35. However, if you do take the test and get a 35 and send that score to your stop choice school, they will likely throw out any other scores you have already sent them. However, if you have already sent your top choice school all the other scores, they may view you as a bit impulsive. I not send any score automatically to any schools if you take the test again. Wait and see your score, then you can send it if it is better than your previous scores or forget if it is lower.
