Question co-op schedule..

I am a high school junior currently looking at Drexel University. I visited there about two weeks ago and really liked it. The only thing I was concerned about was the co-op schedule (5 year, 3 co-op). In the schedule there is only one summer break. I was just wondering how current students or alumni felt about having only one real break.

What else are you going to do during your summer break? Oh right, find a job. Well wouldn’t you rather work in your field than in retail or a fast food restaurant? It sucks if you get a fall-winter co-op though and then have to take classes in the summer, but you just schedule an easy credit load when possible.

@sarajudith- what determines whether you get a spring/summer or a fall/winter coop cycle? is that just randomly assigned?

Yes, it’s randomly assigned during your first term. Some majors only have one co-op cycle. You can also switch cycles with a friend in the same major. I know others that have found loopholes that allowed them to switch cycles, but most people end up sticking with what they are assigned.
