Hi guys! I will be a junior in the fall. I have taken one year of Spanish. Due to scheduling conflicts, I will be unable to take Spanish II next year. I have tried to email my guidance counselor to ask about what options I have, but he has failed to reply.

I looked at my community college's website to see if they offer any foreign language classes online and they don't. :(

Then I checked with the University of Missouri. They do, but it costs about $435 a semester. Is this price reasonable?

Are there other online or self-study programs homeschoolers recommend that can get language credit? This is to meet the college requirement for several years of lang study. Do you get a grade or take the SAT 2 and use that score?

Lookingforward: I’ll have to ask around. I have a friend who is home-schooled, but I don’t know if she’s planning on taking any foreign language classes.

My mom thought there must be some way I can take the class independently. There’s no reason I can’t.

I would have to really cram to be able to score well on the Spanish SAT subject test. I currently only have a basic understanding of the language.

It’s not just taking it- it’s getting adcoms to accept it.

lookingforward: I hope they will. Could my counselor explain on my application that there was no way that I could take Spanish II and III during the year, so I had to find some other way to get credit?

Thanks for the link!
