<p>As in, actually write out a topic that you thought of?
I'm asking this because I just wrote an essay without really answering a specific question.</p>
<p>Since it’s a topic, you don’t need to specify what exactly it is, since your essay will revolve around this topic. But the topic should be clear enough that the essay readers don’t have to guess what it is. Just because it doesn’t answer a specific question doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have a specific point.</p>
