I've heard that there is a real lack of school spirit and unity among students here and that it can be quite hard to make friends. Is this true? Do you like/dislike the lack of a true campus? I love NYU, but that's one of my biggest worries.

True for the most part.

I liked being in the city. I'm not the type who likes to roll around on a grassy quad, and I liked having access to all that the city has to offer without having to "travel off-campus." This kind of environment's not for everyone, though.

The solution for your worries is to visit the school and chat with some current students. You should also visit some other more traditionally laid-out campuses to see how you like those. Your "feel" for the schools should help you decide if you want to attend NYU.

Thanks! Another question: Would you consider NYU a "party school"? Are there things to do tha on the weekends that are associated with the school besides drink and party? Do you have any shot at a normal social life if you don't drink?

Any answers/opinions to this or my previous question are much appreciated!

Never mind the second question- found some old responses to that.

So what's the answer? Or is it from the "Is NYU a party school?" thread?

^yea. I dug up that thread.
