You seem very knowledgeable about Columbia admissions. After some (albeit admittedly nonexhaustive) searching I haven't found an informed answer to this question: Is it Ok to submit an activity summary in the additional information section of the application? I keep going back and forth. On the one hand, the instructions seems to very much discourage additional information in a variety of ways. On the other hand, the limited number of characters available on the application pretty much prevents any meaningful description of my activities. Do you have any first hand knowledge as to how the admissions committee would react to including something? I'm thinking if I do include a summary, they don't have to read it if they don't want to, but if they do want to, they will have that option as well. Perhaps I'm rationalizing, but, worst case including the extra info seems sort of like a victimless "crime", if you catch my drift. :) Thoughts?

Hello, from what i have heard they usually say if you think the information will help your candidacy you should add it. But be judicious with space. Consider, 1 extra page is manageable to read, but 4-5 might lead them to gloss over the information. This is mostly about the psychology of how we read. So if you had a 30 page document you want them to read, I can assure you, most likely it wont be read.

So from the sound of it, not going to hurt you to add the activity summary; be sure to discuss your own involvement too.

Thank you! Extremely helpful
