Question for admitted/current students

Hello there, I'm considering NW as one of my top choices and I'm definitely going to be applying so my question is this, Does NW put more emphasis towards SAT scores and GPA or more towards EC's. I know its good to be a well rounded person and have a range of things under your belt but based on what you've seen, what percentage of the people that are getting in(or are expected to get in this year) had/have mediocre EC's and outstanding school work.

They're looking for a good balance ... but that's not to say that academics aren't the main factor, because let's face it, they're looking for smart kids.

I feel like NU takes a very hard look at ECs and things you do besides academics. That is not to be said that you don't need very strong grades/test scores but I feel like NU is a school that truly looks at each applicant holistically and takes into account essays, ECs, etc.

My son got the regular admission this year. NU really takes multiple factors into account. My son's GPA was not steller, but he had excellent test scores and ECs. They really notice strong ECs, intellectual interests, record of leadership and so on. They are willing to forgive slightly low GPA when you have all the other things going in your favor.

^good, they are going to have to do a whole lot of forgiving when i apply on the GPA

i can tell you just by interacting with the student body that northwestern has an almost immaculate record in the way of admitting intelligent, achieving, capable individuals.

try to appear composed, competent, and coalescent.

this might sound like a weird description but: the kids at northwestern are the kind of kids to whom you can imply very subtle humor and they will "get it" instantly. you might not know exactly what i mean by this now, but spend a year at northwestern then go back home and try and interact with your friends and you'll get it.

they definitely look for "future winners" in all shapes and sizes, try to project ambition and capability.

^how do you all this in one hour? take an interview. they send out a small card after you apply to sign up to interview with alumni. i did and my interview w/ NU was the best one by far.
