Question for applicants accepted w/o submitting test scores

Just curious what type of students (gpa, ec's etc) were accepted that opted NOT to submit test scores. Now that Wake is test-optional it is on our S2 (soph) priliminary list as he is a good student, but so far, not the strongest test taker. We will have a better handle on his scores when he takes the PSAT again in October but by looking at his soph year scores, he will need a bit of help. We did visit the campus with our older son and all loved it - we plan on going back during S2's junior year (prob this fall).

I apologize if this issue has already been addressed.
Thanks.

I was accepted without submitting any test scores.

My gpa is a 4.0, I play 4 varsity sports, plenty of athletic awards, community service, a few academic awards, and I feel as if I had a strong supplement. What they really look at (besides gpa/transcript) is their supplement. Spend a lot of time on that and put a lot of effort into it and that will help greatly if you are not submitting scores.

They accepted me without submitting my ACT scores

My GPa was 3.2 attained from the most rigorous curriculum the IB diploma program has to offer, an impossible internship at a big 4 audit company (i was the only high school student to have ever become an intern at the firm; they have a policy to only hire university juniors and seniors as interns), published a poetry book, 150+ hours of community service, my essays were the best (5 out of five teachers says that it was the best essay they have ever read in their teaching career)…so i guess that’s the winning point :)

good luck!

I was accepted with a 4.0 GPA w/o submitting my test scores. I had a lot of extracurriculars and great community service experience.

I am also not a great test taker - I loved Wake’s decision to go test optional.
However, I did not receive any merit aid; I’m not sure if that had anything to do with me not submitting standardized test scores.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like a good gpa and all the other activities that make for a strong resume is the pattern. If he decides Wake is his first choice, he can always apply ED - where I believe the admit rate is higher.
