Question for Applicants, Past and Present

If you sent in the list of books you've read in high school, how many did you have on your list?

I'm thinking of sending one in, but I don't think my list would be long enough.

About 25, although I'm considering writing an essay instead.

25 for your entire high school career, or just in the past year?

The Harvard application asks this? thx

supplement- it's optional

It's the optional essay component, although it wouldn't be much of an essay.

I recommend 42

or some other number with a literary connection.

In the past year, that's one of the suggested prompts. I might change it to books which influenced me the most or something.

The length of the list won't matter at all. If you wrote an amazing essay that was about one book, that would be fine.

in my application (im going to be a harvard freshman) my supplemental essay had nothing to do with books
i wrote about something completely different - what it was like to attend a high school where my father was the principal

"what it was like to attend a high school where my father was the principal"

O_o

So what was it like?

not bad, it was harder when i was a freshman
but i got really involved with sports and met a ton of people in the school (i went to a public school in rural massachusetts) and then people realized i wasn't a nerd or a prude or anything like that
when my dad retired at the end of my junior year i was really comfortable with him being there
it was really funny b/c people in my school would say "i can't believe ur the principal's daughter"
it didnt help out in the dating world thou haha
