Question for biology/pre-med students at case

i'm going to apply to case this year, and i was wondering how the research opportunities are at the university. i want to be a biology major with a neuroscience concentration w/ pre-med & research is something that i definitely want.
how early can people get involved? how well known is case for research?

There are plenty of undergraduate research opportunities available, as Case is well-known as a research university. You can start as a freshman if you’re proactive and persistent.

The best way to find a lab is to look up each faculty’s research on Case’s website. Don’t forget to check the med school as well as the biology department. Pick the work you’re most interested in, and contact the professors. I believe that zebrafish & C. elegans are two commonly used model animals for neuroscience experiments.

Chances are you won’t start out doing something really intense, but you’ll work your way up to it. Also keep in mind that you will probably need to devote at least 10-15 hours a week to the lab if you want to accomplish anything significant. Good luck! :)

thanks for the info.
do biomedical engineering majors also do extensive research in that same subject?
