I really like the college and feel as if I would be competitive in admissions. My only question is how cold is Brunswick cold? Are the winters survivable? Were you shocked when comparing the temperature and weather to your hometown?

I’m sorry if this seems like a really shallow question because Bowdoin is such a great school, but it really is the one question on my mind.

Yeah, it’s cold and snowy. There’s plenty to do on campus to stay warm and active, so it’s really not all that bad. Just get a big parka from LL Bean and stock up on hot chocolate and ramen.

I’m originally from CT, so I’m used to New England winters, but I have to say that the Brunswick weather is way less harsh than everyone plays it up to be. The ice is tough, so get some good boots. But snow and cold are manageable, and buildings are quite well-heated (dorms almost too much so). Brunswick is southern, coastal Maine, and pretty temperate in comparison to northern areas of the state.
