What were your stats? I realize that they are far from being the only thing that mattered, but they do provide a ballpark range. I thought I was safe; I had a 3.87 UW GPA, 1480/2200 on the SAT, and 33 on the ACT, and I was really happy with my essay, writing being my strong suit. My acceptance letter included a form telling me I'd been awarded the Presidential Scholarship, but nothing else, so I don't know whether to expect a separate letter or what.

Am I just "not good enough?" If I hear back and everyone had a 4.0 and 2300+ I'll feel something of a fool, but I was a little bit disappointed. One thing I considered is that since I was already receiving the National Merit Finalist scholarship they wanted to spread the wealth around a little, but I don't know what's up. I'm not bitter or anything, just surprised.

If you look at the website, the total amts of your National Merit scholarship and Presidential Scholarship exceeds the B-rock scholarship, so yes in a way they are awarding you for with the Pres. schol to go along with the Nat'l Merit schol.

On the contrary, I feel that you should feel very, very good about this scholarship package you received.

Don't ever feel like "you are not good enough". With the gpa and test scores you have proven that you have the potential to be an excellent student at St. O if you chose to go there. When you go to college you will find that there is always someone that seems to excel with half the effort that others put forth. That's life. And you will also find that not always the best students make the best employees. Students that do not receive scholarships may do just as well or even better that those who do. It's just what you make of your college experience, remembering to keep everything balanced... scholastics, social, community service and extra curriculars. Also, it is important to get a part time campus job beginning in your second semester if not before. Students who work, generally have better time management skills. I know it has helped my oldest son.

Good luck! It looks like you have a great opportunity waiting for you!

Your stats are certainly in range to receive a Buntrock scholarship. Perhaps you didn't show enough interest in the school?

Make sure that you can accept both the Presidential and Nat'l Merit before counting on that. Sometimes you must choose only the larger one.
