Hey, just wondering if you current students could give the rest of us coming a long way from IN where we should expect to store our stuff over the summer so we can cut down on those long car rides. thanks!

There are lots of places that you can store your stuff over the summer, no worries. There is one in Niles, Michigan (8 miles North) called Master Mini Warehouse and that is where I have my stuff this year. They advertise every year so you will know about them. I also know of some others because I used Main and McKinley Self Storage last year and they are more expensive but also more secure. There are lots of great options. Just get a group of four or five students to split a storage unit with and you will do pretty well, I am only paying $45 for the summer. Hope that helps!

as a freshman, since we cant have cars, how do we actually get our stuff there?

You can have cars second semester but the actual answer is be very very nice to people like me that have an SUV. You just have to rely on your friends.

oo ok thank you :o)

Depending on your dorm, there is also limited storage in the basements, as well. The newer dorms have some.

True, but that is just during the year usually and is truly limited to things like suitcases (at least in all the dorms I have been in). One thing I forgot to mention is that many of the halls have hall storage over the summer where they take your stuff away in a semi (for a fee), park it in a random corn field over the summer, and bring it back for the next year. That is another good option if you just have a few things you want to store.

I don't think you're allowed to store stuff in the dorms over the summer regardless of where you live. I know you can't in O'Neill because they store linens down there for all the summer residents. Some dorms have trailer storage that you have to pay a pretty good amount for.

It isn't too bad; I think in Fisher it was $10 for a TV and $15 for a chair for the summer so it isn't bad if you have just one or two things. However you are much better off if you have more than a few things going in on a storage unit. Everyone in my group for storage is paying $45 for the summer. Then again, the problem is we have to haul all the stuff!
