Question for current students : ]

Hey! This may have been asked already, but what are the banks/ATM facilities avaliable around campus? Also, what cell phone services work there? I'm in Ohio, and will be attending UNC in the fall, and I'm just trying to get some specifics worked out. Thanks a lot for any help!!

The official bank of the school is Wachovia. There's a wachovia bank of franklin street and there is a wachovia office right on campus with a representative from wachovia working in there. There's an ATM for wachovia near Ramshead and the student store.
Behind Davis you'll find a bunch of ATM's for different banks. Also on franklin street you'll find a Bank of America.

Now for Cell phone services, it depends on the area you buy your plan from and the type of plan. I live in eastern north carolina and I have US cellular and that works fine with me, but students vary in what plan they have. If i were you I'd just talk to a cell phone provider that your family is happy with and see if they can sell you a plan with North Carolina in it and Ohio so you can call home.

Thanks so much!!

Re: cellphones

I don't know if this will help you (I think most people can do better on nationwide family plans), but here is some information off the UNC website:

cingular works really well! and if you ever have a problem with your phone (which i always seem to because of dropping it or random stuff) there's a cingular representative in the technical help place in the bottom of the library to help you fix it

How do verizon and sprint work compare to cingular?
Also, if I live on campus, will I be assigned to a different dorm for the spring semester or do I get to get back to the same room?

you'll live in the same room all year

Thanks, unccadet08.

unccadet08, just to make sure, I don't get to leave my stuff in my dorm room during the winter break, do I?

before you leave for winter break, all you need to do is unplug everything and lock your door. You don't have to take anything home during the break. The only time you have to completely move out is at the end of the spring semester. At the end of June, when you get your room assignment, thats where you'll live for your fall and spring semester. Near the end of the spring semester you'll get the option of recontracting with on-campus housing.
